Start at any level: kickball, slow-pitch softball, disc golf or even flag football. The end result? Connected co-workers, improved morale, exercise, and team building.

We’ve been playing softball as a team at Reichmuth Park in South Land Park with Xoso League. Xoso is an ideal activity for us because it’s mainly a social league and not geared toward working professionals (less bad blood that way).

Here at Valley we love playing softball as a team because we interact as a team and it promotes our team and health culture. Many of us have learned how to play while others have taught other how to play. The important thing is that we are doing something together...we are now looking for the next type of league that we'd like to join or start!

Here are some of the reasons we love playing softball with our colleagues and reason enough for you to start your own team too.

Connected Employees

Many company teams have a similar experience as we have. When you can learn and teach your co-workers in an environment outside of the office, you can connect on another level. Sometimes connections are made over losses, biffs or victories.

Improved Morale

While people often connect over a loss, the perfect team morale builder can be bringing home a win together. The celebrations after a win can improve morale too.

Exercise

We all know sitting for long periods of time is bad for our health but we also know that people in our office have different levels of energy and stamina when it comes to sports. Playing a sport like softball is an ideal way to engage employees of any athletic ability.

Team Building

When the work flow speeds up and depending on company structure, some employees may rarely work together. Playing a team sport is one way to (force, we mean) encourage people to work together in a new way.

We hope we've given you enough reasons to start a company sports team. We enjoy it a ton and we know you will too! Need some advice getting started? Leave a comment here or connect with us on Facebook!
