“I’d like to think I’ve made a difference in my travel nurses’ lives -- I know they’ve made a difference in mine,” says Alyssa Kaspar, who has been a recruiter with TotalMed for almost 5 years now. Find out more about Alyssa!

Tell us about you!

I’ve been married for ten years and I have 3 kids: Riley, Aiden, and Grace. We just got a new puppy Quinn, who’s a 3.5-month-old Lab. The kids adore her!

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

When I’m not working, I love to do anything outdoors -- hiking, fishing, or sports with the kids. I also sneak away for a wine-tasting whenever I can (I love a good cab!). And sometimes, all I want to do is curl up by the fire with a good book.

Where do you like to travel?

Like my travel nurses, I love to travel. Since I was a baby, my family has gone up to Danbury, Wisconsin every summer. It’s nothing fancy, just a small cabin and a lake, but I take my kids there now, and my memories from up north are some of my favorites!

We’ve also been able to pass down my husband’s tradition of traveling to Sanibel Island to the kids. We like to rent bikes and cruise around the small town and lounge around on the beach.

I also love Lake Tahoe - we went there for our 10-year anniversary. It’s some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever laid eyes on!

What are three things you couldn't live without?

My kids, sushi, and online shopping.

What do you love about being a recruiter?

I’ve been with TotalMed for 5 years this summer, and the people I’ve met over the years are what I love most. When you find those travel nurses you really click with, that's when this job is so amazing.

I have had the opportunity to meet some incredible people with life stories you wouldn't believe -- some tragic, some amazing. I’d like to think I’ve made a difference in my travel nurses’ lives -- I know they’ve made a difference in mine.
