Whether you’re new to travel healthcare or have a few assignments under your belt, searching for your next opportunity can feel overwhelming. Most jobs posted by travel healthcare staffing companies are looking to fill just one or two positions. However, in some cases, facilities may need 20+ caregivers. In this post, we’ll share some methods to help you find assignments and land your dream job!

1 – TotalMed+ App

Our latest app, TotalMed+, is THE one-stop shop for travel healthcare professionals. Upon downloading the app, simply create a profile with your basic information, credentials, etc. Once set up, you’ll have access to thousands of job listings. With filters like shift preference, location, desired pay, and more, finding the perfect job has never been easier! You can even save your searches and get real-time notifications when jobs that match your criteria are posted. TotalMed+ also provides essential details like hospital ratings, facility size, weather, walkability scores, crime rates, and average cost of living. Need help? Use the app’s build-in messenger to connect with our expert customer service team in minutes. TotalMed+ truly is your ultimate hub for taking control of your travel healthcare career.

2 – Job Boards

If apps aren’t your thing, you can always explore job boards on agency websites like ours. Similar to the app, you can filter jobs by specialty, city and/or state, and desired pay. Apply directly on the job board page for a recruiter to reach out to guide you through the application process. Some sites provide further information on the role, including responsibilities and requirements, along with a brief description of the city and state. Keep in mind that the demand of a specialty varies between each state. For example, if you are an ICU RN and desire to travel to Washington for your next assignment, there may be limited openings while North Carolina might offer over 20 opportunities. Stay flexible in your job search, as you may not always get your first-choice location.

3 – Apply Now

If you’re planning ahead or unsure where you want your next assignment, our Apply Now page is a great tool for connecting with recruiters and signing up for job alerts. Upon submitting your form, a recruiter will reach out to ensure you have the required documentation and information to make the application process as smooth as possible. You will also have the option to sign up for our job alerts via text and email. Similar to our TotalMed+ app, you will receive a notification whenever a job is available that meets your requirements. For instance, if you do not have a state preference, you can signup to be notified when any job with your specialty goes live; or maybe you only want jobs in Colorado within a specific desired pay, we can set that up too!

4 – Talking To Recruiters

This one may be obvious, but talking to recruiters is one of the best ways to find assignments. Building a strong relationship with your recruiter is key to your success. Recruiters are there throughout your entire travel career. Whether you’re looking for more information on how to begin a travel career, applying for your first job, or have questions during your assignment, your recruiter will be there for you. They will become your cheerleader and will do everything they can to help you achieve your goals. At TotalMed, we believe that you are more than just a number – you’re a part of our family. Our recruiters go above and beyond to ensure you feel supported and valued every step of the way.

5 – Facebook Groups/Pages

There are a variety of travel healthcare groups on Facebook. Some groups are specific to an agency, while others are a hub for all recruiters and agencies to post jobs. There are groups for connecting with other travelers. These types of groups are great no matter if you are new or old to the industry as it is a way to meet people (maybe even do an assignment together), get their opinions on agencies they have worked with, and learn more about the travel industry in general. Lastly, several agencies will also post jobs directly to their page, so be sure to follow them on their socials to get a first look at any hot jobs that may pop up!

6 – Word of Mouth

In addition to Facebook groups, forums such as Reddit, or communities like MedVenture, are great for meeting fellow travelers, asking questions, and learning more about the industry. You might even meet travelers at the same facility you’re headed to! Networking with other travelers is a great way to discover jobs, gain insights, and connect with new recruiters if you’re considering a change.

7 – Google Jobs

Last on our list is Google Jobs. Google pulls listings from multiple agencies, and while you will mostly get jobs in the area you are searching, you may see a random sponsored jobs from another state pop up. Keep in mind that applying via Google Jobs may result in you being redirected to an agency’s website, LinkedIn, or a third-party site. You may also run into listings that have already been filled, but still showing on Google Jobs. While Google Jobs may not be the most reliable, it is a great way to find agencies you can connect with directly.

In conclusion, finding the right assignment doesn’t have to be stressful. Whether you’re using the TotalMed+ app, exploring job boards, connecting with recruiters, or tapping into online communities, there are plenty of resources to help you land your dream job. Remember to stay open-minded, leverage all available tools, and build strong relationships with your recruiter to ensure success! At TotalMed, we’re here to support you every step of the way and make each assignment a rewarding experience.
