It is easy as a travel nurse to forget to give yourself some downtime to relax, destress and unwind

Don’t forget to have “me time”. Working 13 hour shifts can leave you exhausted, which is why it is extremely important that you give yourself “me time.” “Me time” is different for everyone because it is dependent on what you need and how you like to relax. Here are a couple of different activities you could do during your “me time.”

Workout

It is so important to take care of your body and to stay physically strong for your patients. As nurses, you do not want to get injured on the job when moving or lifting a patient. When you work out endorphins are released, which boosts happiness levels.

Crafting

I personally find it relaxing when I get to use my hands. Making crafts is a great way to relieve stress, and it is also fun to see the final product. It makes me feel accomplished. Feel free to check out my crafting YouTube Channels for ideas on what kind of crafts you can make.

Meditate

If you are short on time, try setting 10 minutes aside everyday to meditate. This can be as simple as closing your eyes and just focusing on your breath.

Reading a good book

Getting lost in a good book is one of my favorite ways to de-stress and relax. Grab your blanket, a good book and relax on your couch. Not only is reading a great way to provide stress relief, but reading also improve your memory, which will help keep you sharp at work.
